What is an Earthseeds Ambassador?

EarthSeed Ambassadors are people just like you who are helping to spread the Global View, Sustainability, and Progress in their communities.  Some Ambassadors are working to help ‘green’ their schools and spread the “Earth in Every Classroom” initiative.  Others are building exhibits or staffing a SusBus and helping to spread the word to the community at large at events and markets.  There are even a few Ambassadors who work with EarthSeeds Central on major projects or help in our efforts to connect with other groups and reach more people.  Slowly but surely these folks are helping to shift consciousness on the planet towards Oneness and Unity - towards Peace and Ecological Stability and Sustainable Living.  Everyone is a "Crewmembers of Spaceship Earth" by virtue of the fact that they are living here on this lovely round blue ball we call "Home".  Join 10,000 other people, worldwide who are working to make a difference by starting at home and in your community!

 What can EarthSeeds Ambassadors do?

There are a lot of opportunities for Ambassadors, things to get involved with, projects to work on, but what they do it really depends on their interests, abilities, but most importantly their passions.  Though we have a lot of individuals working with us, there is always strength in numbers.  One of the key roles of the Ambassadors is to be the local representative for their neighborhood, school, city or State.  You can table at markets or fairs, meet with school leaders, hold house parties, represent us at your local ‘green drinks’ or other like-minded venues, and perhaps most importantly let our reputation help you make changes through meetings with your local business and civic leaders.  Finally, EarthSeeds Ambassadors help connect and bring people together to make positive change a reality.

 Why become an EarthSeeds Ambassador?

"THE TIME HAS COME TO SEE.... WE ARE ALL ONE FAMILY."

Earthseeds Ambassadors are focused on building unity and creating harmony.  We're here to remind each other of our true "Common Ground" - Planet Earth. Right now there is an opportunity to make real, positive change happen and it starts with us.  As Wendell Berry said: There are some things governments can do for their people.  But there are some things people must do for their government.  Many of the greatest changes that we have seen of late have been started by passionate people, grown with community support and involvement, then eventually became the main-stream and supported by the larger community.  We have learned many lessons from these first efforts and know that true change starts at home, with individuals, then spreads and grows like a tree with deep roots and many branches.  Help us spread the seeds that will grow into these trees….and make the world a better place.

What can I do right now?

 1)  As an Ambassador you get access to all of the resources, connections, and ideas that we are famous for.  The first step is always to learn more about living sustainably and make some positive changes in your life.  You have to help yourself, before you can help others.  These need not be huge changes, but keep those high-minded goals in the forefront as we move forward.

2)  Send us the resources you find and enjoy like web-links, video, and inspirational materials, so we can share it with other people in the network!  We are building this together and you are an important part of the process!

3)  Then Get Connected to other people and groups in your area and find out what changes need to be made using “think globally, act locally” as your guide.  Once you have identified some specific changes like community composting, recycling of batteries or electronics, or perhaps it is green-ways or bikepaths and safe routes to schools, then use us to help you get information and resources that will become the tools for making change a reality.

4)  Attend a virtual training and get out on the streets, to fair and events, and help spread EarthSeeds to more and more people.

5)  Work with our “Schools and Curriculum” team, get trained, and get involved with your local schools. A lot of our work focuses on school young people and there are a lot of things to do in that arena, but a few projects Ambassadors are working on right now are:  school gardens, getting the earth image into every classroom, helping schools purchase and fly the EarthFlag, helping get local produce and real food in their cafeterias, working with staff to build composting and recycling programs and get rid of waste in the school system, and even a projects working to get solar and wind power for their school.

6)  Host house parties, events, and other gatherings to bring more people into the fold and add momentum to the movement.

7)  Consider helping build the collaborative needed to design, create and staff a SusBus for your area!   See the SusBus pages for more details!

8)  Pay it forward.   We believe that every good turn deserves another and live by that credo.  Help spread the word, bring the change to other parts of the world and other communities by becoming a true ambassador to the world.

9)  Get involved in Projects and the process at EarthSeeds Central.  We are always updating resources, building new outreach programs, connecting more people and that takes time and effort.  Find out how you can best use your talents and passion to heklp us become stonger and better at what we do!

Earthseeds Ambassadors come in all sizes, shapes, ages, races, nationalities and occupations. We have students, teachers, parents, park rangers, business folks, musicians, artists, athletes, pilots, sailors, CEO's and workers all helping to Scatter, Plant, Water and Nurture Earthseeds. With positive human energy, images of Earth from Space, creative ideas, and fun projects, we build bridges towards a positive future for ALL "Crewmembers of Spaceship Earth." Some of us travel and plant Earthseeds around the globe. Some of us stay in one town and work to educate our community about our "common-unity" and the need for waking up to a new way of living and relating around today's "Global Village".  In all cases, Earthseeds Ambassadors work and play to be encouraging, positive and uplifting towards change for the better.

A Note From First Lady Michelle Obama

 Hello My Fellow Citizens:

National and community service has been a cornerstone of my life, as I know it has been for many Americans. And with the daily struggles now confronting so many families, it's especially important for us to reach out to one another and offer a helping hand.

I've just launched United We Serve, a national initiative to tackle our toughest problems by working hand-in-hand in communities across the country. We aim to make a real difference right now and bring more and more Americans into a tradition of life-long service to make an even greater difference down the road. We urge you to get involved in re-making America with the goal of continually moving forward from good to better to best and beyond.

There's an old Thomas Edison quote I've always liked: "Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work." It's no secret that our country faces some enormous challenges right now, and meeting them will take a lot of hard work. But in that work lies an equally great opportunity -- a chance to serve. And I do believe the chance to serve is a precious gift indeed.

Service has played a transformative role in my life -- bringing me tremendous joy and helping me find the path that led to where I am today. As a parent, I believe service is a great way to demonstrate values and to teach our children firsthand what it means to commit to a purpose beyond ourselves.

It should be a part of everyone's life. From the moment someone can walk to the day they leave this planet, service should be a part of how we give back, how we say thank you, how we express our gratitude for the lives that we've been given.

 Thank you,

 First Lady Michelle Obama
